Bonnie's Cozy-Glow Dog Lamp
Painted by hand in a little workshop above Main Street in Stillwater, Minnesota
Bonnie Harlan, 69, made the first Doxie Lamp after her dachshund Pretzel passed away. Arthritis is ending her fine work — these are the last dog lamps she will ever make.
“Pretzel slept under my workbench for 14 years. When he was gone, I made him out of colored light. Now I’m closing the workshop — and I want every last little dog to go to someone who loves dogs the way I loved him.”
Bonnie Harlan · Stillwater, Minnesota

What makes Bonnie’s dog lamps special
Amber, honey and gold panels framed by dark lines — like a little stained-glass window. Switched on, the whole dog glows from within.
The Doxie’s one turquoise ear is painted last — just like Pretzel’s ear, which was always flipped inside out.
The LED sits deep inside, so the light comes softly through the panels. Cozy and easy on the eyes — never harsh.
Plug into any USB charger or port and flip the little switch on the cord. No bulbs, no batteries.
Each dog stands (or sits) steady on its own paws — on a nightstand, windowsill or bookshelf.
Every panel painted and checked one by one in Bonnie’s workshop. Small differences from piece to piece are part of the charm.
“A lot of my clients keep something in the spot where their dog used to sleep. A small warm light is one of the kindest choices — it gives the evening a routine again. Bonnie’s lamps glow through the panels rather than at you, which is exactly right for a bedroom or a quiet corner. It is lovely, honest work.”

Why a Doxie Lamp lasts
- LED inside. Runs cool and lasts for years — nothing to replace.
- Safe low voltage. USB powered, so it is fine for bedrooms and kids’ rooms.
- Sturdy body. A solid molded body with painted panels — not thin glass that chips.
- Switch on the cord. Turn it on and off without reaching behind furniture.
- Checked one by one. Every lamp is switched on and inspected before it leaves the workshop.
If your dog lamp doesn’t win you over, one email to info@cedarandtinco.com is enough. Bonnie would rather have it back than have it sit in a drawer.
Please note the size. These are small, cozy lamps — about 5.5 to 6.7 inches tall, roughly the height of a coffee mug. They are made to glow softly, not to light a whole room. A USB wall adapter is not included — any phone charger works.

A note from the workshop:
Bonnie Harlan has made lamps in her little workshop above Main Street in Stillwater, Minnesota, since 1988 — more than 17,000 of them, every one painted by hand. For 14 years her dachshund Pretzel slept under the workbench. After he was gone, she made him out of colored light — and the Doxie Lamp was born. Later came his little pack: the Golden Pup, the Chihuahua and the French Bulldog. Now arthritis in her hands means the fine painting is over. Around 480 dog lamps from her final collection are left, and she closes the workshop for good just before Christmas. When they are gone, there will be no more.

How is it made?
Bonnie draws every dog by hand first. The body is molded, then each of the colored panels is painted by hand in amber, honey and gold, with the dark lines between them like the lead in a church window. On the Doxie, the turquoise ear always comes last. A warm-white LED sits deep inside so the light glows through the panels without blinding you. Every lamp is switched on and checked before it leaves the workshop. Small differences from piece to piece are part of the charm.
