Connie's Full-Fill Christmas Tree
The last trees from a 68-year-old family factory
Connie Marino, 66, runs Marino Tree Works in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, the small family factory her grandfather opened in 1958: one brick building and 14 people. Rising costs are closing it on December 23. These are the last 412 Five-Footers.
“These are the best Christmas trees we have ever made. I could have made them cheaper and stayed open. I’d rather close with my name on something good.”
Connie Marino · Marino Tree Works, Hazleton, Pennsylvania
What comes in the box
In three easy sections
Full from top to bottom
Folds flat after Christmas
Slides under a bed
What 68 years taught this family about a Christmas tree
The family’s own needle material, refined over decades in their own building: two greens, brown stems and a soft matte finish that doesn’t shine like plastic.
600 branch tips on a five-foot tree. You can’t see the pole, and your ornaments hang where you want them, not where there’s a gap.
A steel cross stand keeps the tree steady all season. In January the legs fold in and the box slides under a bed.
Three sections, no tools, about 10 minutes. Then fan out the branches and shape them the way you like.
The needles never drop and the PVC is flame-retardant. A calm choice for homes with grandkids, cats and dogs.
Vince Marino designed the Five-Footer in 1971 for apartments and row houses. Big-tree fullness, in a corner that fits.
“When people ask me how to tell a good artificial tree from a cheap one, I tell them to look at two things: how many tips it has for its height, and whether you can see the center pole from across the room. A five-foot tree with around 600 tips is well filled. Two needle colors and brown stems also make a big difference in how natural it looks once the lights are on.”

Perfect for
Why families keep the same tree for years
- Full, not bald. 600 tips hide the pole from every side.
- Looks real. The family’s own matte needle material, two greens and brown stems.
- Stands steady. A solid steel stand, not a wobbly plastic one.
- Easy for one person. Three sections and about 10 minutes.
- Clean floors. No needles to sweep up, ever.
If it doesn’t feel like Christmas in your living room, one email to info@cedarandtinco.com is enough. Connie would rather have it back than have it sit in a closet.
Good to know: This is a five-foot tree (about 150 cm), sized for smaller rooms. It arrives with the branches folded up for shipping. Give each branch a minute of fluffing, from the bottom up, and the tree reaches its full shape. Lights and ornaments are not included.

The Last Run
The Last Run
A note from the factory:
Connie Marino’s grandfather opened Marino Tree Works in an old brick silk mill in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in 1958. In 1971 her father Vince designed the Five-Footer for small living rooms: five feet tall, but as full as the big trees. Every one goes through six pairs of hands, and foreman Stan Pawlak sends back any tree where he can see the pole. In three years the power bill tripled and steel doubled. Connie could have made the trees thinner. She said no. The factory closes on December 23. The last 412 Five-Footers are sold for little more than they cost to build, so her 14 workers get their final paychecks and a real Christmas bonus. When they are gone, there will be no more.

What families say about Connie’s trees
Fuller than I expected for five feet. I couldn’t see the pole once the branches were fluffed out. Perfect for the corner of our den.

Sharon T., Allentown, PA
Set it up by myself in about ten minutes. At my age that matters. The cat supervised the whole time.

Dorothy K., Dayton, OH
My parents had a Marino tree when I was a boy. I ordered two, one for us and one for my daughter. It looks just like I remember.

Gerald M., Scranton, PA
Two shades of green really does make it look real. My neighbor asked where I found a real tree that small and that full.

Joan W., Hagerstown, MD
The stand is solid steel, not the flimsy kind. In January it all went back into the box and under the guest bed.

Ronald P., Erie, PA
I bought it partly because of the story about the workers. When it arrived, I was glad I did. It’s a beautiful tree.

Not one needle on the rug all season. Our cat sleeps under it every afternoon.

How is it made?
Each Five-Footer goes through six pairs of hands at Marino Tree Works. The two-tone branches are fanned and filled until 600 tips cover the pole, the foreman checks every tree from three feet away, and then it is folded into three sections and boxed with its steel cross stand.
