A small, hand-painted bird bath from Yorkshire sculptor Jean Pennington – carved by hand, cast in high-quality resin and painted coat by coat.
For more than ten years Jean only sold her bird baths locally – at the Sunday market in Hebden Bridge, at Christmas fairs and to neighbours who knocked on her door. This winter she's putting what's left in her workshop online. When it's gone, there won't be another sale.

How each one is made
- The master carving. Jean carves the original by hand from a single block of lime wood, leaving every knife mark visible.
- The mould. A silicone mould picks up every cut – leaf veins, fur, spines.
- Cast in high-quality resin. Keeps the carved detail and doesn't crack in a frost the way glazed pots and concrete can.
- Hand-painted. Several layers – base colour, darker washes worked into the cuts – finished with a clear outdoor coat. No two come out exactly alike.
